DANCENATION RECREATION CLASSES:
Our recreation classes include Twinklers, Sparklers, Glitter Girls, Shooting Stars, Pizzazz Poms, Hip Hop, Essence Lyrical, Praise Dance, Acro, Show Production and *Ballet. Our recreation classes work on a variety of styles including Pom, Kick & Jazz routines. Recreation classes are performance classes which meet once a week and run 30, 45 and 60 minutes long. Performance classes will have a minimum of 3 performance opportunities throughout the season including the Winter & Spring Showcase.
*Ballet classes will only perform for the Winter & Spring Recital.
DANCENATION COMPETITION CLASSES:
Competition classes are Sparkling Stars, Starlettes, Shinning Stars, Dazzlers, Shooting Stars, Rising Stars, Radiance & Starliners. Competition Teams will meet twice a week and will incorporate a ballet lesson. Competition teams may work on Jazz or Lyrical routines and may require more than one uniform. The Shooting Stars is a Production Team. Competition teams will compete throughout the season as well as perform at the Winter & Spring Showcase. In order to be eligible for a competition team, dancers:
BALLET 1 (K-2nd grade)
Ballet 1 classes start on the floor in a circle, either sitting or standing, with stretching, balancing and strengthening exercises. We also go across the floor with ballet steps and dance steps of leaps, bourrees, chasses, as well as our motor skills of hopping, skipping, jumping, marching, etc.
BALLET 2 (3-5th grade)
Ballet 2 classes will start out at the ballet barré for their ballet positions, posture, stretch and strengthening exercises. Then students move to center floor for leaps, turns, and jumps. Combinations of ballet steps are then danced across the floor.
BALLET 3 (6-12th grade)
Ballet 3 classes will start out at the ballet barré for their ballet positions, posture, stretch and strengthening exercises. Then students move to center floor for more complex combinations of ballet steps leaps, turns and jumps.
Ballet dancers will need to purchase a DanceNation leotard and tights for their ballet lessons. Ballet skirts and tutus are also appropriate for class. Ballet shoes are required for all ballet classes. Ballet classes will perform for the Winter & Spring Showcase.
STRETCHING & TECHNIQUE (2-12th grade)
Stretching is crucial to a dancer. An important factor in gaining flexibility is time and commitment. This class will focus on: correct alignment, partner stretching, and refinement of skills. Stretching & Technique is a drop in class you PAY FOR THE DAY; each class is $7.00. It is a non-performance class.
ESSENCE LYRICAL & PRAISE DANCE (K-12th grade)
Praise dance (also known as liturgical dance or worship dance) is a form of dance that seeks to articulate the spirit of God through movement of the body. Praise Dance is a performance class and is sure to be an inspirational experience for those seeking a meaningful relationship with Christ.
*NEW* ADAPTIVE DANCE - StarBrites (5 years - 18 years)
This program is designed to foster a love of dance and creative expression in children with special needs. The primary goal of Adaptive Dance classes is for the children to experience the pure joy of dance and music. Additional benefits may include improvements in coordination, overall fitness, balance, focus, listening, self-esteem, self-expression, rhythm and musicality. A progressive choreographed dance routine is learned weekly.
*NEW* LEAP, TURN & TUMBLE - Intro to Acro & ACRO DANCE– (5-8 years old and 9-18 years old, background in gymnastics is preferred)
Classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. This class requires dancers to be trained in both dance and acrobatic skills. Dancers must be in excellent physical condition as well; Acro is a physically demanding activity. LEOTARDS REQUIRED PRACTICE ATTIRE.
CHARACTER SHOW PRODUCTIONS (3 years-12th grade)
Show productions are large scale mass routines available for ALL ages often times utilizing props, backdrops and creative character costumes. Character Show productions are shorter term sessions offered as two 6 week sessions and one day workshops. For the My Guy & Me production, dancers must have a male partner (often times it's dad but it can be anyone!). Show Productions are performed at our Winter & Spring Recitals and are usually a favorite for all!
